Severn Valley Railway

crest here

The present S.V.R. dates from 1965 when a society was formed to save part of the line from Kidderminster to Shrewsbury, formerly part of the Great Western Railway. Operations commenced from Bridgnorth to Hampton Loade in 1970 to Highley and Bewdley in 1974 and finally Kidderminster in 1984.

There are over 30 steam locomotives on the line together with an interesting variety of coaches and other rolling stock. The principle locomotive depot is at Bridgnorth where well-equipped workshops are maintained that carry out engineering work for other railways in addition to maintaining the resident stock.

The crest comprises of the arms of Bewdley left and Bridgnorth right with a wavy blue line representing the River Severn separating them.
