The Alstom Singers have now begun their 2011-2012 Season of rehearsals, to prepare for their upcoming concerts. New members are always welcome on Monday evenings at St Leonard's Social Club, St Leonard's Avenue, Stafford.
Rehearsals start with warm up exercises at 7.30pm, then we continue until 9.30pm, with a short refreshment break halfway. The atmosphere is both friendly and fun! Musical Director Cathy Garside encourages the singers with infectious enthusiasm whilst conducting. The ability to read music isn't obligatory, so if YOU have a singing voice you're keen to air or revive, do come along! Tenor, Baritone and Bass voices are especially welcome, gentlemen.
New arrangements of songs are currently being learnt, including the flowing Flow gently sweet Afton and the lilting beauty of The Skye Boat Song, both from one of our favourite arrangers, Alexander L'Estrange. His harmonies delight choir and audience members alike. Also in new this season is Cole Porter's tongue-twisting Anything Goes, which trips along merrily with accompanist Amanda's playing! These songs complement the wide range of styles which the Singers perform.
The Christmas Season will soon be upon us, and like all musical groups, The Alstom Singers have bookings for concerts. Dates for your diaries are:

• Saturday 10 December - St Paul's Church, Lichfield Road, Stafford
• Wednesday 14 December - St Leonard's Social Club - the Annual Carol Concert with The Stafford Orchestra
