I'd long wanted a Landrover, and in December 2002, I bought one! An old Series 2a SWB 88".
As it was registered before 1973, it's tax exempt!! This means I can usually afford to keep it on the road for about what it would cost me to tax a similar modern vehicle.
With the aid of a couple of spanners, a screwdriver, and a hammer even I (a mechanical muppet) can do at least some of the work on it with little fear of causing any long term damage :-)
This is the "Ox", also known as the "Andover", as she was when I first purchased her. She now sports a hard top, bonnet mounted spare wheel, and has had a reasonable amount of work doneto various parts.
